Those tips were acummulated from the sites I have read during the time and from other people’s opinions. I love the site dailyblogtips.com, because it is one of the sites which truly speaks our language, the bloggers’ language. Some of the tips about which I will write today I have seen that are presented on some posts on this site as well, which makes me glad, because it seems that more people have the same opinion. And when the opinion is the same, this must be the actual truth.
Avoid writing long blog posts. You can limit yourself when using WordPress by selecting a certain amount of words that have to be written in a single post. This is available if you use certain plugins. On a site, it is more than sufficient to write a blog post that has 1000 words. For example, sometimes you want to write more, but because the user is not used to scroll that much, you should limit yourself to 1000 words and create a continuation of your work in another article. This is the most common situation I have encountered. I guess you too have seen posts that say “Part 1”, “Part 2” and so on. When you write about movies or about the actors that play in it, it is normal to want to write more about them, because you have what to write, especially if the actors are Angelina Jolie or Robert Downey Jr. But you have to limit to the character of your article. Do you write about the actors or about the movie? Do you write about the director ot about the composer of the soundtrack? You have to establish this from the beginning, because otherwise you will end up writing novels.
Avoid using a large number of ads on your blog. WordPress, the free version, doesn’t allow you to place ads on your blog. only the paif version allows you this. This is available not only for the first page of the site, but also for the other pages. Don’t use pop-ups. I have seen blogs where they were used in order to show you another commercial, another ad. Come on guys, do you really think that we will come back on your site? This will not be possible, since you are using a very large number of ads.
Always write an “About me” page. With the help of WordPress Support, you will be able to write the page in no time. And this is not the only thing you should do, write it and that’s it. No, you should optimise it even better than you optimise the rest of your pages, because it is the page with the biggest impact on the reader. If you don’t believe me, enter some popular Websites, that have a page rank higher than 0 and check the “About me” page. You will be surprised to see that it has a page rank that equalises the main page or it is about it with one or two ranks.
Try to make your codes to express all that you want and at the same time, make them short. There are some programs which help you to shorten the codes and to maintain what they want to express in the page. Still, you should test the codes before saying that your Website is ready, because some browsers might not support it. Choose the colors with care. When you create a site think if not at the health of the eyes of your visitors, at least of your eyes. You will be one of the persons which will work almost permanently on the site, seeing how the posts are published, seeing how the plugins are working and so on. This will stress your eyes, if the images and the content is not inserted, nor posted on a nice and easy to use interface. More about this in the previous articles I have written.
